Scope of care & limitation of liability

• Assess and monitor your recovery: wounds, drains, dressings, vital signs, pain, and mobility.
• Carry out care ordered by your surgeon or physician, within a registered nurse's scope of practice.
• Support medications as prescribed, and teach you and your family how to manage between visits.
• Document each visit and report to your surgical team.
• Recognise warning signs early and escalate them to your surgeon, physician, or emergency services.

• Perform, assist with, revise, or supervise any surgical procedure.
• Diagnose conditions, or prescribe, change, or stop medications on their own authority.
• Overrule or replace the instructions of your surgeon or physician.
• Provide emergency or resuscitative care in place of 911 and hospital emergency services.
• Guarantee any particular surgical outcome, cosmetic result, or recovery timeline.

Your surgery, the decision to operate, the technique used, the implants or materials chosen, the anaesthetic, and the decision to discharge you the same day are all the responsibility of your surgeon, anaesthetist, and the facility where the procedure took place.

Recovera is an independent home nursing provider. We are not partners, employees, or agents of your surgeon, hospital, or clinic, and they are not ours. Recovera and its nursing staff are independent of, and bear no responsibility or liability for, the surgical procedure itself or any inherent medical complications arising directly or indirectly from the surgery.

This includes complications that are known risks of the procedure — such as infection, bleeding, blood clots, poor wound healing, scarring, nerve or tissue injury, implant problems, reactions to anaesthetic or medication, an unsatisfactory cosmetic result, or the need for further surgery — whether they appear during our care or afterwards.

We are responsible for the nursing care we ourselves provide: performing it competently, in line with professional standards in British Columbia and the orders we are given, and escalating concerns promptly. Our nurses are registered and insured, and nothing on this page limits any liability that cannot be limited by law, or any claim arising from our own negligence or misconduct.

Our 24/7 line is a nurse line, not an emergency service. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, heavy bleeding, sudden severe pain, fainting, or any sign of a serious emergency, call 911 first, then tell us.

Recovera's fees cover home nursing visits and nurse-line support only. They do not cover surgical, hospital, physician, or medication costs. Whether a public plan or private insurer reimburses home nursing is between you and that plan — [confirm with your legal and billing advisors and state your own policy here].
